Y’all know we LOVE a travel guide, so we are back with a TRIP TO NEW YORK! There is so much to do in New York, planning a trip can be overwhelming, but we’re here to give you the best places to see in the city that never sleeps.
Shopping
Of course, when you think of shopping in Manhattan, Fifth Avenue comes to mind. Totally congested with some of the best, most high-quality shops, a stop on Fifth Ave is a must.
Bergdorf Goodman - Even though this might be a little window shopping trip, look at and shop all of Berdgorf’s beautiful designers - Armani, Ashley Longshore, Cartier, Chanel, Hermes, and so many more.
260 Sample Sale - A family owned and operated sample sale running weekly, 260 Sample Sale includes high end designers for clothes and beauty products.
Eats
Tavern On The Green - Located in Central Park, Tavern On The Green is re-opening on April 29th. With safety protocols in place, the dining experience will not only be focused on your safety, but also on the beauty and tradition behind Tavern On The Green. The restaurant has seasonal cocktails and entrees, and we recommend the black truffle mac n’ cheese!
Nobu - A worldwide favorite, Nobu is the hub for the best sushi around. Try the crispy rice with spicy tune and the shishito den miso. The menu has something for everyone, like the black cod with miso, the squid pasta with light garlic sauce, and beautiful nigiri and sashimi.
Eataly - A collection of restaurants, counters, cafes, and markets, Eataly is a fun experience. Give yourself some time to walk around and view all the shops
Becco - On restaurant row, Becco is an authentic italian restaurant in the heart of the theater district. Make an early reservation and then a drop into a theater for a Broadway show. They are known for the innovative pasta tastings and a $35 wine line.
Social
Looking for a good way to see the entire city? Take a cab to the top of Manhattan and walk all the way to Lower Manhattan. Stop by the park, look at the beautiful apartment buildings in the Upper West Side. Swing through the Chelsea Market, and finally get some unbelievable dumplings in Chinatown.
Museums
All museums listed are open to the public with guidelines for safety and protection of visitors and staff.
Guggenheim - Founded in 1937, The Guggenheim showcased Solomon Guggenheim’s eccentric style. Currently featuring audio/visual films in their rotunda and their Off The Record installation, which features art and narrative left out of the mainstream. Swing by before a day of shopping on Fifth Avenue.
The Whitney - In the early 1900s, The Whitney was just a little studio of sculptures by Gertrude Venderbilt Whitney. After being denied a place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she opened her own museum in 1930. The Permanent Whitney collection includes over 24,000 pieces, so you’re sure to find something you love!
Artechouse - Three words define the mission of the Artechouse: inspire, educate, empower. The current installation is an immersive experience that captures you with sight and sound. It centers around Geometric Properties. The museum is dedicated to the marriage of art, science, and technology. Located under the Chelsea Market, it is in a great location to drop by for a visit.
Ground Zero - Don’t forget your tissues when you head to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum! A breathtaking experience about one of the most tragic days in our country’s history. “The Museum’s dynamic blend of architecture, archaeology, and history creates an unforgettable encounter with the story of the attacks, the aftermath, and the people who experienced these events.”
Shows
Although Broadway shows are still suspended due to COVID-19, we had to include some of our favorite productions, in hopes that we will be back in the theaters soon!
Wicked - So many of us love the story of The Wizard of Oz. But have you looked at it from every angle? Wicked is a prequel to the beloved story. A sweet story about friendship, being different vs. fitting in, and being good, watch Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West navigate the boarding school experience, while coming into their own power.
The Lion King - A Broadway classic, The Lion King’s immersive production is fun for everyone, even adults! With stunning costumes and phenomenal music, The Lion King is a must see for anyone traveling to New York.
